Director General, IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta attended the 8th Meeting of the Council of Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) on June 26, 2012. The Hon’ble Vice President of the Republic of India, Mohammad Hamid Ansari, chaired the meeting.

Director General, IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta attended a brainstorming session on International Cyber Security Strategy for India, organised by Special Secretary (Pol) Asoke Kumar Mukerji at the Ministry of External Affairs on June 22, 2012.

Senior Research Associate, IDSA, Dr Rajiv Nayan spoke on Trends in the Multilateral Export Controls Regimes and India in an Export Control workshop on ‘Managing Trade in Strategic Goods and Technologies in the Asia-Pacific’. The Workshop was organised by Pacific Forum CSIS and the Institute of International Relations, National Chengchi University, Taiwan in Taipei from June 17-19, 2012.

Director General, IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta and Research Fellow, IDSA, Dr Uttam Sinha, who were on a week long visit to Norway and the Barents Region from June 11-16, 2012, visited the Russian town of Nikel as part of the Barents countries cooperation and interacted with local officials in the villages of Zapolyarny and Korzunovo on June 15, 2012.

Research Fellow, IDSA, Dr Uttam Sinha interacted with Senior Editors from Bangladesh on Water Issues during a discussion organised by the Ministry of External Affairs-External Publicity division (MEA-XP) on June 4, 2012, at The Maurya, New Delhi.

A four-member delegation led by Director General IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta concluded a week long visit to China from May 29 to June 3, 2012. During the visit, Dr Gupta addressed the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR Forum) on the theme ‘The Future of Afghanistan and Regional Cooperation’ with an Indian perspective. He also led the IDSA delegation in the bilateral dialogue and interaction with scholars from CICIR that was led by its President Mr Cui Liru. Bilateral, regional and international issues were discussed.

A five member delegation led by Director General, IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta signed an MOU with the Institute of Strategic Studies, Mongolia during the first bilateral between Meeting. During the bilateral, India- Mongolia relations were discussed and future areas for cooperation were explored. It was decided to broaden the interaction between the two think tanks at the academic level and institutionalise academic exchange.

Research Assistant, IDSA, Sanjeev Kumar Shrivastav was among the selected participants in a Roundtable discussion on ‘US Presidential Politics: Keys to Victory’ at the American Center, New Delhi on May 29, 2012. Well known psephologists Prof. Allan J. Lichtman from American University in Washington, D.C. and Dr Sanjay Kumar, Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), New Delhi made their presentations, followed by a discussion.

An Agreement of Cooperation was signed between the institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) and the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (MISIS) during the ongoing visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Myanmar, stated a report in the Indian Express on May 28, 2012.
