In his reflection of the current global state of the ‘fifth wave’ of political violence, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, today termed terrorism as a medium term challenge. He called for a fundamental change in the regional and global response it through improved information sharing and regional understanding, increased state level cooperation, greater public understanding of democratic processes through debates and discourses, and greater role of civil society and businesses.

Senior Research Fellow, National Security College, and Distinguished Research Fellow at Australia-India Institute, University of Melbourne, Dr David Brewster delivered a talk on ‘Prospects for India-Australia Co-operation in the Indian Ocean Region’ at IDSA on September 9, 2016.

Assistant Professor of International Security at the Turkish National Police Academy, Dr Necati Anaz and his colleague Mr Hussain Mercan, Research Assistant at Erciyes University, interacted with the IDSA scholars on issues related to West Asia and terrorism on September 7, 2016.

Defence analyst and Attorney-at-Law based in Trinidad and Tobago and a Visiting Fellow, IDSA, Dr Sanjay Badri-Maharaj gave a talk on ‘Emerging Jihadi Threat in the Caribbean Region’ on September 6, 2016.

A discussion on Research Fellow, IDSA, Col Vivek Chadha's book titled, ‘Even if It Ain't Broke Yet Do Fix It: Enhancing Effectiveness Through Military Change’ was organised at the IDSA on August 31, 2016.
