    SHRI YOGI ADITYA NATH:

    Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

    (a) whether political instability in Nepal is likely to affect the security of India;
    (b) if so, the details thereof; and
    (c) the efforts made by India to have political stability in Nepal?

    ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS(SMT. PRENEET KAUR)

    (a) to (c) There is on going cooperation on issues of mutual security concerns between India and Nepal. These are discussed at the Home Secretary level talks, Joint Working Group on Border Management and coordination meetings at the level of district functionaries of the bordering districts of Indian states and their counterparts from Nepal. Nepal has assured India at various levels that it would not allow its territory to be used for any activity against India. India has extended full support to the peace process and for the establishment of a multi-party democracy in Nepal and will continue to extend its assistance in accordance with the wishes of Nepal. However, political developments in Nepal are its internal issue, decided and settled by the Nepalese people and their representatives.
