CommanderAmanSaberwal joined IDSA as Research Fellow in January 2016. He is a serving Naval Officer with a specialisation in Navigation and Naval Operations. He has commanded a Landing Ship Tank, INS Sharabh, commissioned INS Pralaya as Executive Officer, navigated, among other ships, a front-line frigate INS Vindhyagiri, and also carried out aircraft direction duties on board the Aircraft Carrier Viraat. His staff appointments include a stint in the Directorate of Naval Operations, Chief Staff Officer to Naval Component Commander in Andaman and Nicobar Command and as Squadron Operations Officer of the 22nd Missile Vessel Squadron. He served in the Ministry of External Affairs in the Public Diplomacy and Sri Lanka Maldives and Indian Ocean Region Divisions prior to joining IDSA.
