    SHRI P. VISWANATHAN :

    Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

    (a) the number of Indian Consulates presently located in Sri Lanka;
    (b) whether the Government is aware of the long pending demand for setting up more Consulates in Sri Lanka;
    (c) if so, the details thereof along with the action taken by the Government thereon; and
    (d) if not, the reasons therefor?

    ANSWER THE MINISTER OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (SHRI S.M. KRISHNA)

    (a) to (d) At present, India has a High Commission in Colombo and an Assistant High Commission in Kandy in Sri Lanka. The issue of setting up additional Consulate/s is receiving the attention of the Government.
