IDSA Inter College Debate on "India's Major Security Challenges Lie Within"

    To encourage greater awareness among the youth who will play a critical role in the future, IDSA is organising a debate for students of colleges located at Delhi on the topic: “India’s Major Security Challenges lie within”.

    The debate will be held at IDSA Auditorium at 1000h on 06 November 2009. The best college team in each category would be awarded the IDSA Rolling Trophy. The best speaker will receive a cash award of Rs. 25000/-, the 1st Runner-Up Rs. 15000 and 2nd Runner-Up Rs. 10000/-.

    Each college is requested to select two participants each for the debate, one each for and against the motion. The prizes would be distributed on IDSA’s Foundation Day, tentatively scheduled for the afternoon on 27th of November. Each college would be allowed an entry of two speakers. One would speak for the motion and the other against the motion.

    RULES AND REGULATIONS

    1. The students nominated by the college would have to bring a copy of the Registration Form duly signed by the Head of the Institution as well as their Photo Identity Cards when they report for registration on day of the debate.
    2. Each college can send a maximum of two speakers: one for the motion and one against the motion.
    3. Each speaker would get a maximum of 4 (four) minutes. At the end of 3½ minutes, there would be a bell to indicate that only 30 seconds remain for the speaker to complete his/her speech.
    4. The speakers who exceed the time limit would be penalized.
    5. The best team would be awarded the IDSA Rolling Trophy and the team members a certificate and/or the cash prize as eligible.
    6. The best speaker would receive a certificate and a cash award of Rs.25000/-, the second best speaker Rs.15000/- and the third best speaker Rs.10000/-
    7. The decision of the jury shall be final.
    8. Each college is encouraged to send a team of interjectors. The best interjector would receive a certificate and a cash award of Rs.5000/-. An interjector can address only one question to a team.
    9. The last date of the receipt of the Registration Form is 30th October 2009 (17:00 hrs).
    10. The Registration Form duly filled and signed by the head of the Institution should reach Wg. Cdr. Hemlata Lohani, Asstt. Director (Admn), Room No.301, Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, No.1, Development Enclave, Rao Tula Ram Marg (Near USI), Delhi Cantonment, New Delhi 110 010. The Registration Form could be sent by Registered Post Acknowledgement Due/Speed Post or by hand in which case the receipt for the Registration Form would be duly given to each college by the addressee. The Institute shall, however, not be responsible for any late receipt of the Registration Form.
    11. All speakers/interjectors are required to report to IDSA Auditorium by 09:00 hrs. on 6th November 2009 and shall not leave until the entire debate is over.
    12. The decision of the jury shall be announced at the end of the debate.
    13. The prizes would be awarded on IDSA Foundation Day for which separate intimation/invitation letter would be sent to the prize winners as also the Principal/Head of the Institution that wins the trophy.

    Top
