The government of Orissa announced its decision to recruit as many as 2000 special police force personnel to combat the Maoist insurgents. The government would also fill up the various vacant posts by appointing 1500 retired defence personnel. Besides, more than 5,000 police constables and other staff would also be appointed in special recruitment drives1.
