US defence companies to double their market share in Europe

  • Reports noted that US-owned companies are taking steps to double their share of European arms market, by the sale of items like airborne radars, radio-frequency electronic warfare (RFEW) and electro-optic infrared (EOIR) equipment. Currently, the share of US companies in European market was about 20 per cent and by 2016, it is expected to increase to nearly 40 per cent. The market for equipment like the airborne radar, RFEW and EOIR, currently worth $3.5 billion per annum, was expected to increase to $3.8 billion by 20161.
