  • Reports noted that the Indian Army has for the first time inducted a DRDO-built vehicle helpful in detecting nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) weapon attacks. The indigenously-built vehicle, based on a BMK-IIK Infantry Vehicle chassis, is fitted with nuclear, chemical, biological, metrological and positional sensors and contamination detection devices. The vehicle would also be helpful in demarcating the affected or contaminated areas with a flag-marking system as well as collecting soil and water samples by using an in-built scooping device. The system can also distinguish and store NBC contamination data and transmit it to the Army Headquarters though Communication Link and Controller Star-V radio set1.
