    According to reports, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his American counterpart John Kerry have discussed the possibility of organising the Geneva-2 conference on Syria aimed at finding a lasting solution to the ongoing quagmire. 1

    On the sidelines of the ASEAN Security Forum in Brunei, Foreign Ministers of Russia and Indonesia have signed a statement on no first deployment of weapons in outer space on July 1 ,2013. 2

    Russia and ASEAN have called for strengthening of trade, economic and investment cooperation. The declaration was made in the backdrop of the ASEAN Security Forum in Brunei. 3

    As part of Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin’s visit to Moscow, Russia and Colombia have signed a programme of exchanges in the field of culture, education and sport for the period 2013-2015. 4

    Russia’s Foreign Ministry has come out with a statement criticising the supply of weapons from Libya to the Syrian armed opposition via Qatar and Turkey and that it goes against the international embargo on arms trade with Libya. 5

    Reports noted that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi have discussed prospects for resolving the nuclear problem on the Korean Peninsula on the sidelines of the ASEAN Security Forum. 6

    Russia’s Rosneft and Venezuela’s PDVSa have signed an agreement on cooperation in oil and gas projects on the continental shelf. This was signed in the backdrop of the meeting between Russian President Putin and his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro. 7

    In other developments, according to reports, Russia’s Foreign Ministry has come out with a statement that has urged all political forces in Egypt to show restraint. 8

    Sea trials of the INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier have commenced with the ship expected to start sailing for India towards the end of October. 9

    Russia and Kazakhstan Presidents have discussed various aspects of their bilateral cooperation including those on space industry and the integration process. 10
